Authenticating with Hotmail
If you attempt to connect to a Hotmail account using FEC and authentication fails with an "AUTHENTICATE failed (NO)." error or an "AUTHENTICATE failed. Account is blocked. Login to your account via a web browser to verify your identity (NO)." error, you can try the following:
1. Go to the Security basics page and sign in to the target Microsoft account.
2. Select Advanced Security Options. Depending on the security settings on the account, you may be prompted to enter a code sent to a secondary device.
3.A. If Two-step verification is not turned on, keep the browser window open and try connecting with FEC again.
3.B. If Two-step verification is turned on, under App passwords, select Create a new app password. A new app password will be generated and will appear on your screen. Use this app password in FEC to connect to the account.
